ARTIST, SCHOLAR, EDUCATOR
Theatre combines the totality of the arts in a captivating and passionate experience. When teaching theatre I adhere to this concept of total theatre, capitalizing on the incorporation of multiple modalities of art including writing, music, movement, visual art, and media, thereby prompting personal and communal identity through shared experience. I aim to inspire a respect for all art which in turn fosters a greater awareness of self and society. Theatre has the power to inspire creative critical thinking, a strong, empowered sense of self, cooperation, and an understanding for others in the surrounding world. I call for students to express themselves honestly and creatively in hopes that they will discover a greater sense of self through an appreciation of their unique, dynamic artistic voice.
