Coalition for the Homeless

Amanda served as a facilitator for The REP's outreach residency to the Coalition for the Homless in the summer of 2011. Originally conceived as a potential digital storytelling venture, the project detoured into explorations in creative dramatics and movement. Our residency lasted two months and culminated in a live performance o The REP's summer stock production of Hairspray!

Amanda's article on her work with Coalition for the Homeless, co-authored with Emily Freeman.

"Thank you! I wanted to share a story with you. When asked to participate in the trust circle, one of our girls shared that she didn't trust anyone. One of the volunteers and I convinced her to try it and she reluctantly did. When we got back to the Coalition, she gave me a big hug and thanked me for bringing her to the theatre. As we walked up she kept talking about how much fun she had and couldn't wait to tell her friends at school. The opportunity to see how an afternoon filled with the arts can effect someone was amazing. So thank you again for allowing our kids to come to the REP."
